🌸 GiG Ladies 2026 | What a Wonderful First Year! 🏌️‍♀️💕

Sunday 27th September marked the final session of our GiG Ladies 2026 programme for this year and what a fantastic journey it has been!

Twelve ladies took to the course, playing from the 5th to the 14th hole, before returning to the clubhouse for a well deserved cup of tea and cake! 🍰☕

It has been wonderful to see friendships develop along the way. A huge thank you to Harry for setting up the WhatsApp group, helping everyone stay connected and encourage each other throughout the year.

For many of the ladies, golf was completely new. Some had never played a single hole and had little idea which club to use, where to stand or even what a ball marker was! 😂

A very special thank you to Sheila Jarvis, who has revisited many of her teaching skills to help guide these ladies on their golfing journey. Her patience, knowledge and encouragement have been fantastic.

Thank you also to the Ladies Committee, including Lady Captain Claire Beckett, for all their help and support. It has truly been a team effort.

Sunday marked the end of the first year of this two year programme. When we return next spring, the ladies will continue developing their knowledge of etiquette and basic rules, along with scoring and marking a card, with the hope of eventually obtaining a handicap and perhaps future membership at Churston. 💚

You may well see our GiG ladies out on the course over the winter, so we are sure our members will give them plenty of encouragement, patience and a warm Churston welcome.

To all our GiG ladies, well done! 👏 You should be incredibly proud of how far you have come.

And to everyone who has helped, taught, encouraged and supported them, thank you. This is what being part of the Churston golf community is all about. ❤️

Here is to more golf, new friendships and plenty of happy days on the course! ⛳
